Crossing of the Dan
The 233rd Anniversary Commemoration of the Crossing of the Dan in historic downtown South Boston.
The commemorative events are scheduled for February 20-22, 2014. Centered around The Prizery, where the Crossing of the Dan Exhibit is open to the public, the celebration will include an evening performance by the Halifax County Middle School Sixth Grade Players and Singers on Thursday, February 21, 2014.
All sixth graders will visit The Prizery on Friday when the winners of the DAR sponsored essay contest will be recognized.
Saturday’s program will feature guest speakers, a wreath presentation ceremony, an encampment on the Dan River, and a re-enactment of The Crossing.

Public admission is not charged to the Crossing of the Dan Commemoration. We rely solely on voluntary sponsorship.
All sponsors will be listed in the program provided to all guests and allows you to show your support of our community and this annual celebration.
