Community Foundation of the Dan River Region

About Us

Established in 1996, The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region is a 501(c)(3) organization that awards grants and scholarships throughout the year to build growth and opportunity in our region. These grants and scholarships are made possible by generous donors who want to change lives by leaving a legacy. Individuals, businesses, or organizations may establish their own scholarship or endowment fund, or they may contribute to existing funds.

The Foundation’s service region includes Halifax County, Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, NC. Our mission is to improve and enrich the lives of the region’s residents by encouraging and facilitating donations; by managing, investing and distributing these donations in accordance with donors’ wishes while meeting community needs; and by ensuring these donations create a lasting legacy of growth and opportunity throughout the region. We want our region to be know for the overwhelming generosity of our communities and their dedication to improving quality of life, providing support for those in need, and creating life-changing opportunities.
